HECCATOMMITHI
I think if Iago loved Disdemona in Othello as he did in Hecatommithi, all of the tragedies that occur throughout the play would not happen. I would find this to be very interesting because Iago’s actions of killing Rodrigo and Cassio would not take place and the death of Disdemona also would not occur. Iago is madly in love with Disdemona so he would manipulate Othello into breaking up with Desdemona instead of killing her just so he could be in a relationship with her. I predict Shakespeare chose the ending where Othello commits suicide because his one true love is stripped away from him by the manipulation of a man he thought he could trust.

"O" MOVIE QUESTIONS
Hugo’s motive is to get everyone’s attention towards him since everything is revolved around Oden, and worse, his father values Oden more than his own son. Hugo was jealous of Oden because he chose Mike as his wing-man, and shared the MVP trophy with him in front of the entire school. He felt he was a joke after thinking he would be called up there because felt like he deserved it as much as Oden himself. Hugo was furious, and his purpose was to crush Oden and everything that he values. He wanted him to lose control and break up with the one thing that meant more to him than basketball, his girlfriend Dezi. He convinced and manipulated Oden that Dezi was cheating on him. He knew that doing this would make Oden extremely upset and care less about basketball. Hugo would then be the center of attention since he had already planned for Mike not being able to play. He could care less about others, even his own girlfriend. As a selfish person, Hugo believes his actions are for the best as everything that he values, including his father, are being taken away from him.
Oden is madly in love with Dezi, and the moment he was informed that Dezi was cheating on him, he couldn’t believe it. He was crushed and could barely take in everything Hugo had told him. Hugo manipulated Oden and he believed everything he was told; since his grandmother’s scarf that he gave Dezi was in Mike’s hands. Oden thinks Hugo’s information and involvement is to help him in this situation, but in reality, everything that Hugo had told Oden was to ruin his relationship with Dezi and crush his basketball future. Oden was so madly in love with Dezi, that bearing the thought of being cheated on was unspeakable. He was so vulnerable to this situation because he needed and wanted to know more and more about Mike and Dezi, even though they were merely friends.

ZACH WAHLS ASSIGNMENT
Zach Wahls had delivered an incredible speech about gay marriages in the Iowa House of Representatives. This speech resonates with me the most because I fully support the homosexual community and I believe they are no different from others. Zach’s argument of same sex marriages was very personal. This was a very strong factor that had supported his speech and his intention of gays being treated fairly and equally by the government. Although Zach had stuttered here and there, he had delivered the speech very well. Connecting his speech personally strengthened the message that he was trying to portray. People are questioning gays if they could raise kids as well as a couple of opposite sex. Being raised by two women, Zach scored in the 99 percentile in the ACT and now runs his own business. For a young man no more than 2 years older than me, he is no different from me. His family is no different from mine.

FUKUSHIMA ARTICLE - ERE
This article summarizes the positive and negative aspects of nuclear energy. The Fukushima nuclear accident had caused a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a tsunami following right after. Many had died and the accident had left the people of Japan in a state of shock. The former Japanese prime minister has argued against nuclear energy, with the support of more than 50% of the Japanese population. Even after this incident the current government has assumed that nuclear power is essential for economic growth.
This article is somewhat useful to me because the positive and negative effects of nuclear energy are displayed and argued. Although the argument is weighed more upon the negative side, this provides strong examples of why nuclear energy is extremely dangerous. The article does a great job in explaining what happened on this tragic day, and how the government would still consider nuclear energy as a significant source of energy and increase in economic growth. In this case, nuclear energy is focused on the Fukushima plant in Japan, rather than focusing on nuclear energy in general. This made me think about choosing a question that is not too specific, like how nuclear energy had affected the people in Japan.

WHY "SECURITY" KEEPS WINNING OUT OVER PRIVACY
I believe that the invasion of privacy should not be tolerated to the extent that the government breaks its own laws and wiretaps the people’s phone calls without a warrant. The government being allowed to break its own laws has given them infinite power, which is the equivalent to a dictator. This is absurd because the United States had established a system where laws would rule, not a lone dictator. Nicholas II, the Czar of Russia in 1917 was a dictator who invaded the people’s privacy and freedom for the sake of security. His purpose was for Russia having a strong militarized force to protect the country and ensure national security. The outcome of his actions left Russia in a vulnerable state for any country to invade, and millions dead. The problem with the War-Powers argument is that it ignores the law. The rights and privacy of the people should not be violated at any circumstances by anybody, including the government.

SOCHI RESPONSE
I stand by Stephen’s reaction to the current situation happening in Russia. Homosexuals
are completely being discriminated and isolated from the community. They are to be tolerated
in public, only if oral intercourse or the touching of each other is not allowed in public. Now,
gay men are being tricked into meetings, where they are degraded by “normal” people. These
actions are rarely being treated by the police because of “protecting the country against the
destruction of its fundamental cultural codes”-Economist.com, Stephen Fry. A new law in Russia has
connected homosexuality to pedophilia and more than ¾ of Russians polled that they support
the ban on gay people. Homosexuals have been harassed and humiliated on tape and in public
because of Russia’s active laws and moral standards on homosexuals.
In my opinion, Stephen Fry is not overreacting to the issue in Russia, at all. Gay men and
women are being isolated and restricted to rules such as if they are not human. No oral
intercourse is allowed in public because it is seen as contaminating the public square, but their
existence can be tolerated. Having restrictions on certain types of people because of their
homosexuality is the same as being discriminated by the colour of your skin. These “alien
people” are, believe it or not, humans. They are a part of the Russian community just as much
as a non-homosexual 14-year old bully, who has complete hate towards gay people
